Drop D talks to…CHRIS TRAYNOR (Orange 9mm, Helmet, Bush, High Desert Fires)

August 25, 2015

DROP D recently spoke to lead guitarist & bassist, Chris Traynor.

In this ALT & INDIE ROCK interview special Chris talks about picking up a guitar for the first time, his musical influences and all the amazing artists and producers that he has had the pleasure working with in the industry for well over twenty years.

As one of the founder members, he talks about the formation of Orange 9mm in the early 90s before joining New York Alt Metal band Helmet. Chris also also talks about his time with Multi Platinum Selling British Alt Rock band Bush which spans well over 15 years now.

His latest project is a Topanga Canyon-based music collective (or “chosen family”) called High Desert Fires which ‘hearkens back to the washed-out sounds of Southern California in the 1970s’. Chris tells Drop D about the production process at NRG Recording Studios where the songs were recorded in mono and mixed to analog tape in order to keep that authentic throwback vibe.
